My very own standing desk
Today I finally got my custom-made standing desk installed. It’s a 2-in-1 actually, with surfaces for both standing and sitting modes. It’s quite compact, occupies far less space than my older workspaces. But enough talk, here are some pictures instead:
I’ll post an update in a week or so with how it feels to work upright. Haven’t had the chance to wrap my head around the experience in such little time, but I feel that my typing speed and accuracy have increased a bit. And a sense of utter freedom of movement – I can now kick, punch (both the air and the wall around the desk) and stretch anytime and even jog in place while I wait for compilation, downloads/uploads, chat responses, etc. or simply pause to think.
Have you tried using a standing desk? What benefits did you discover?
I have been thinking for quite some time about using a standing/sitting desk as I work at a desk a lot and I have a bad back (lifting too many helium gas cylinders). I have been thinking about all of these complicated systems to raise and lower the desk and not once have I thought of just putting in a second level for the keyboard. All I would need is a swivel arm for the monitors and a removable keyboard platform and thats it, brilliant 🙂
Jim
Jim, a high enough chair would also work great with a high desk, like at bars. That way you may just need one surface at the top. But depending on your height it may be difficult to get a chair that matches the height of the desk.
I got inspired for a 2-in-1 after looking at this desk here https://ninjastandingdesk.com/standing-desk-gallery.html it sort of hinted at the idea of two surfaces and ultimately two working modes being accessible, they call it a sit-stand desk.
I’d love to see what you end up installing. Good luck!
Can you please connect with me?
I wanted to ask you some questions about your Gravity-Forms-Conditional-Notifications code.
I was wanting to specify an email but could not work that out. Can you help?
Allan, I sent you an e-mail. Also please note that Gravity Forms 1.7 comes with conditional notifications out of the box, rendering my plugin obsolete.
